About Bhajan Lal Sharma
Bhajan Lal Sharma is the 14th Chief Minister of Rajasthan. He assumed office on December 15, 2023. His inauguration was attended by Governor Kalraj Mishra, along with Deputy Chief Ministers Diya Kumari and Prem Chand Bairwa.
Born on December 15, 1967, in Atari Nadbai village of Bharatpur, India, Bhajan Lal Sharma is a prominent Indian politician. He has been serving as the Chief Minister of Rajasthan since December 2023. Sharma is a member of the 16th Rajasthan Legislative Assembly, representing the Sanganer constituency.
Early Life:
Sharma was born to Kishan Swaroop Sharma and Gomati Devi in Atari village. He pursued his education in political science at Rajasthan University.
Political Career:
Sharma’s political journey began during his school days when he joined the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh’s student wing through the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad. He later held positions as district co-coordinator and district head. At the age of 27, he became the Sarpanch of his ancestral village.
Sharma has been actively involved with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and has served as the party’s secretary in Rajasthan.
In the 2003 Legislative Assembly elections, Sharma contested from the Nadbai constituency on the ticket of Rajasthan Social Justice Forum (RSNJM) but secured the fifth position with a vote share of only 6.28%.
After the 2023 Rajasthan Legislative Assembly elections, he was elected as the MLA from the Sanganer constituency.
In 2023, Bhajan Lal Sharma contested the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly elections from the Sanganer constituency. He defeated the Congress party candidate by a significant margin, which paved the way for his elevation to the highest political office in the state.
On December 12, 2023, Sharma was appointed as the Chief Minister of Rajasthan for the first time. He was sworn in as the 14th Chief Minister along with Deputy Chief Ministers Diya Kumari and Dr. Prem Chand Bairwa.
Personal Life:
Bhajan Lal Sharma is married and has two sons. His elder son, Abhishek Sharma, is pursuing his studies and working in the private sector. His younger son, Kunal Sharma, is a medical doctor with an MBBS degree.
